Breaking News: Deadly Disease Hits Ondo State, Residents Wake Up Blind And Die Within Few Hours

According to reports circulating online, residents of Irele township in Ondo state have been hit by a deadly diseases. The victims wake up blind, with a terrible headache and die within a few hours. At least 15 people who contracted the disease are feared dead.

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Dayo Adeyanju, said the disease, discovered on Wednesday, is strange and it’s symptoms include headache and loss of sight.

I Am Ashamed Of My Passport - South African Rapper, AKA

South African rapper AKA has come out to say he is ashamed of his South African passport. AKA who came to Nigeria in February and was given a warm reception by Nigerians, likely commenting on the xenophobic attacks in South Africa, yesterday tweeted:

“Headed to Nigeria, Ghana and Tanzania shortly … And for the 1st time I’ll be ashamed of my South African passport”. He also headlined the weekly music event Industry Nite.

The attacks have left quite a number of foreigners dead and several others fleeing their homes for fear of being attacked. AKA called the South African president, Thabo Mbeki to step in and save the day.

NNPC Strong Men To Be Sacked, Accounts Probed By Buhari - Report

According to Reuters news agency reports, the incoming Muhammadu Buhari administration will replace the top management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

It will also review the accounts of the oil company to restore credibility, according to sources within Buhari's party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). It said the new government will submit a bill to break the NNPC into four entities, as already prescribed in the latest PIB draft.

One APC source told Reuters that the Bill “will also, crucially, remove the minister of petroleum from the NNPC’s board of directors to curb political interference.”

The younger sister, Temitope Dorcas Olafare, told Hamiltonstyle, that their family do not believe the suicide account of Busayo, who was the last person to see him alive. Woman Delivers Bouncing Baby Boy Inside BRT Bus In Lagos

According to reports, passengers on a BRT bus going to the CMS area of Lagos on Wednesday were forced to become emergency midwives and labour attendants when a pregnant woman was delivered of a bouncing baby boy inside the bus.

The report had it that the woman identified simply as Afolaranmi, was going to a private hospital in CMS for a medical checkup, when her water suddenly broke. Fortunately, some medical workers in the bus immediately organised other passengers and helped in delivering the baby at about 12pm, around the Constain bus stop.

Buhari Will Reduce Petrol To N40 Per Litre - David West

Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Prof. Tamunoemi David-West, said that Nigerians should expect sharp drop in petrol price from the current N87 to about N40 per litre, saying, “the president-elect, Gen. Mohammed Buhari, will reduce the fuel pump price to N40 per litre.”

In a telephone interview with Vanguard, the former minister argued that Nigeria produces millions of barrels of crude oil daily, and if properly harnessed will boost the performance of the industry. In his words he said:

“I want to assure you that by the time he takes over, petrol will be dispensed at N40 per litre. This is possible and he has the credibility to make it work.

55 Corpers Released After Being Held Hostage For 24 Hours In Nasarawa

Aaccording to a report by Vanguard, about 55 Corps members and staff of INEC deployed to serve as presiding officers, who were held hostage in Assakio, Ashige and Adogi in Lafia LGA in Nasarawa state on Saturday April 11th, have finally been released.

The Corpers were rescued by security men this afternoon and brought to INEC Headquarter in Lafia. The Corps members said they were held hostage by the host communities because INEC returning and collation officers refused to show up after the election was peacefully concluded to collate and return election results. They said when they tried to call the returning officers, they didn't pick their calls and the host communities refused to let them go until security men came to their rescue today.
