Arizona Man Gets Life In Prison For Killing His Six-Year-Old Nephew Who Witnessed Him Kill His Father

A jury sentenced an Arizona man, Christopher Rey Licon, to life in prison Friday for killing his six-year-old nephew after the child witnessed his father's shooting death.

Licon was spared the death penalty and a judge will decide whether he will spend the rest of his life in prison or be eligible for release after 35 years. Licon was convicted in mid-September in the 2010 shooting deaths of his half brother, Angel Jaquez, and his nephew, Xavier Jaquez. Jurors deliberated for two days before reaching the decision on punishment. He does not face the death penalty in his brother's killing and will be sentenced to 16 to 25 years on December 16.

Farmer Hacks Man Who Slept With His Wife To Death

A 30-year-old farmer, Waheed Suleiman, was yesterday remanded in prison by an Ilorin Magistrates’ Court in Kwara State, over alleged murder.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that Suleiman, with two others now at large, allegedly hacked to death one Ismaila Hassan with cutlass. According to the prosecutor, Corporal Salahudeen Ahmed, the accused and his partners in crime committed the offence on October 20.

British Jet With 189 Passengers On Board Dodged Missile While Approaching Sharm El Sheikh

A Thomson flight carrying 189 passengers had to dodge a rocket as it approached Sharm El Sheikh, it has been reported. The London Stansted flight was said to have come "within 1,000ft" of the deadly missile and only avoided it after the pilot took evasive action.

It eventually landed safely and the passengers on board were not told about the brush with certain death. The incident came two months before a Russian airliner crashed after taking off from the Egyptian resort on Saturday killing all 224 on board.

The Boko Haram sect is still bombing, fuel scarcity is still on, the dollar is still over N200, fuel subsidy is still draining the treasury, insecurity has got to a new level, the roads are at a deplorable state nationwide, and some people are suggesting we should still give the president more time, that he will deliver soon. How long will this delivery take? Because it is already looking like the president might need a C-section to deliver. The signs are clear for all to see that Buhari has started feeling the pangs of labour. Nobody should ask us to give Buhari time to settle down to work. Buhari is an employee and he has to do the job he’s getting paid for. No firm accords its employees the luxury of settling down to the job. Why must it be a different case with Nigeria? Is President Buhari not getting paid already? So why does he need time to do a job he’s already getting paid for?

Imo State Police Command Arrest Kidnapper While Withdrawing Ramson From ATM

The Imo State Police has arrested a man named Nwabueze Nicholas Lucky on charges of kidnapping and extortion after he abducted 2-year-old Somtochukwu Olewu on October 27, at his mother's shop located at Zone 4, World Bank Area, New Owerri, Imo State.

Nwabueze had gone to buy something but when he got to the shop, he saw the little boy playing alone outside while his mother was busy inside the shop and he quickly kidnapped him. He demanded a ransom of N500,000 which was paid the next day. He however kept the boy in his custody, hoping to release him immediately after cashing the money. He succeeded in withdrawing only N120,000 through the ATM machine. When the ATM machine didn’t dispense the rest of the money, he was forced to go inside the bank to make a complaint. He was immediately nabbed by the police.
