Driver Of Trailer That Fell Off Ojuelegba Bridge Arraigned For Multiple Manslaughter

The driver of the trailer that fell off the Ojuelegba bridge and landed with the container of cement it was carrying, on an SUV killing three people on September 2nd, was arraigned before a Lagos State Magistrate Court sitting in Yaba Lagos yesterday September 11th for multiple manslaughter.

Okorocha, Oshiomole Says They Will Not Declare Their Assets Publicly

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state and his Edo state counterpart, Adams Oshiomole said they will not be following in the footsteps of President Buhari in declaring their assets publicly.

Speaking with Punch through his chief press secretary Sam Onwuamado, Governor Okorocha said declaration of assets was an individual thing and that no governor is mandated to do so by law.

"This is an individual thing. Governor Okorocha believes he is a second term governor. He is not a new governor that should be declaring assets. Meanwhile there is no law that says governors should declare their assets. When former president Jonathan was in power, who talked about declaration of assets? What president Buhari has done is a good thing but it is not mandatory" he said.

Man Jailed 14 years In Lagos For Defiling Neigbour’s 13-Year-Old Daughter

An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court today sentenced a 25 year old unemployed man named Ogboru Godspower, to 14 years in jail for defiling a 13-year-old daughter of his neighbour in Ikorodu.

The prosecutor, Jimah Iseghede, told the court that the grave offence was committed on Aug. 8 at the rapist's residence. The young girl was going to take her bath when the accused waylaid her, removed her towel & defiled her according to a report by Vanguard.

NDLEA Arrests Notorious Drug Baron At Lagos Airport

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Friday said it had arrested a suspected notorious drug baron, Azubuike Odugwe, over unlawful importation of 1.025kg of cocaine.

The Agency’s Spokesman, Mitchell Ofoyeju, said in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that the arrest was made during inward screening of passengers on Emirates airline flight from Dubai.

It said that Odugwe was found with wraps of powdery substances that tested positive for cocaine at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.

I Don't Hate Buhari - Governor Ayo Fayose

According to controversial Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose, contrary to popular belief, he does not hate President Buhari.

He said this while receiving the state labour leaders, led by the Chairmen of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Raymond Ade-Adesanmi and Trade Union Congress, Ayodeji Ladeji, in his office in Ado Ekiti yesterday September 10th. In his words he said:

“I consider the anti-corruption war of President Muhammadu Buhari as mere propaganda. If you want to fight corruption, you have to do it by example. President Buhari must start from his party men. He should probe how his campaign was funded because he told Nigerians that he is a poor man. Whatever I say about Buhari should not be mistaken for hatred, I don’t hate him. But, he has to desist from fighting corruption with political face. I differed seriously to his anti-corruption war because he has been protecting other former heads of state, except President Goodluck Jonathan, who contested against him.

A 33-year-old father of one, identified as Adeshina Adams, who had been allegedly parading himself as a staff of Channels Television has been arrested by the Police in Lagos.

It was gathered that Adams has been impersonating as a staff of Channels TV, covering events on behalf of the television station and defrauding unsuspecting people of their hard-earned money.

According to Crime Alert, the management of the popular television station received complaints from people who had been victims of the suspect’s nefarious activities.

Fayose, Wike Kick Against Death Penalty For Corrupt Govt Officials

Governors of Ekiti and Rivers state have kicked against the suggestion that government officials found guilty of stealing the Nations treasury should be sentenced to death.

The state governors spoke against this during the National rallies held by NLC members to canvass for support for the Buhari anti corruption drive as well as call for death penalty to be enforced on corrupt government officials. Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, Fayose argued that death penalty which has been enforced in some other countries has not stopped the looting of public funds in those countries.

“In countries where death penalty was introduced, it has not stopped looting. In advanced countries like US, jail sentence is the penalty. What we need is proper moral education to change orientation of the people. Jail sentence is better; it can reform,” he told Punch.

Nigerian Labour Union Wants Corrupt Govt. Officials Killed As Penalty

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC) and civil society has advocated capital punishment for corrupt officials as practiced in China and India, insisting that the campaign against corruption must be intensified and sustained.

The National Space Research and Development Agency NASRDA, says Nigeria will experience a Lunar Eclipse on Sept. 28th. Lunar eclipse is an astronomical event that occurs when the earth comes in-between the sun and the moon, and the earth casts its shadow on the moon, so that the moon appears reddish.

A statement by the agency which was signed and released yesterday September 9th by the Deputy Director. Media and Corporate Communications, Felix Ale, says the lunar eclipse would begin on Monday September 28th from 1:11am, and will be at its maximum by 3:47 am, with its final contact at 6:22am.
