The Duke of Cambridge who celebrated his 32nd birthday on Saturday June 21 received an Augusta A109S Grand helicopter, estimated to be worth $11 million from his grandmother Queen Elizabeth.
William, heir to the throne behind his father Prince Charles, received a 2008 Agusta A109S Grand helicopter from the British monarch. Local media identified the helicopter model. The extravagant gift is meant to facilitate travel for Wills and Kate as they attend official engagements. The ultimate goal is to reduce travel times between appearances, allowing the couple to spend as much time as possible at home, with their adorable 10-month-old son George.
It is unclear whether William, who is already a trained British Royal Air Force helicopter pilot, will be flying the aircraft himself. And in keeping with her recent generous streak, the Queen has kindly allowed other members of the royal family to borrow the pricey gift.
